Traditional tarps are often made of polyester, canvas, nylon, polyethylene, and polypropylene. Tarps made mostly of polyethylene are more durable, stronger, and have a more waterproof ability as compared to other types of material like canvas.
Polyethylene (PE) this is a very versatile woven plastic. It is flexible while still maintaining good strength, is completely waterproof, highly abrasion-resistant, and can withstand intense UV radiation from the sun. A tarpaulin made with polyethylene can be used in agriculture, construction, and home use.
HDPE Tarpaulins is made from HDPE fabric cross weaving, plus the fabric is laminated on both sides with LDPE Plastic. Nowadays, this latest technological concept is the evolution of plastic industry. It‘s about HDPE (high-density polyethylene) Virgin Tarpaulin, prepared in the following two ways,
- 3 layers – one layer of fabric and two layers of coating.
- 5 layers – two layers of fabric and three layers of coating.
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) a material that is fully waterproof and resistant to abrasion, UV, and weather. It can even resist some acids and oils in use, and if damaged it can be repaired with hot-air welding. These are most commonly used as truck curtains and other outdoor applications. Canvas a tarpaulin may be made with canvas, a very breathable material that still offers good weather resistance when treated.
