What is SPC Flooring?
As a vinyl flooring, SPC flooring is virtually indestructible and is ideal for commercial and high-flow environments. SPC flooring faithfully replicates wood, marble and any other material without having to give up this additional design style. But what exactly is SPC floor, what are the advantages of its installation, and why choose it?
What is SPC Flooring?
SPC stands for stone polymer composite with limestone support layer, PVC powder and stabilizer for higher denseness than dense LVT flooring. SPC flooring is also a very safe flooring because it does not use solvents or harmful adhesives, nor does it use anything that can release harmful volatile compounds into the air VOC. Formaldehyde content is far below the legal standard.
This means that you can choose between a surface layer of 0.33 or 0.55 depending on the strength of the channel, thus installing this floor for any level from domestic, commercial to industrial. It can also be installed on any subfloor, even an escape floor up to 5mm, or on a hard and flat surface, but with a mattress thickness of 1.5mm. And for these floors, possible shortcomings of the underlying floor can be corrected. The mattress is also pre-laid with SPC flooring, which also guarantees a high level of soundproofing.
What is SPC floor made of?
An SPC usually consists of 4 layers (may vary by manufacturer) :
SPC Core: SPC flooring contains a strong and waterproof core. No matter what liquid you pour the liquid into, it will not ripple, expand or flake. Without the use of blowing agents, the nucleus is super-dense. The core is made from a mixture of mineral and vinyl powder. It makes the rebound under the feet a little less, but makes the floor a superhero of durability.
Printed vinyl base: Here you can get beautiful photographic images that make vinyl (almost) identical to natural materials such as stone and wood.
Wear layer: Just like traditional vinyl, the wear layer acts as a bodyguard; Helps protect the floor from dents, scratches, etc. The thicker the wear layer, the stronger the protection. SPC flooring can have a wear layer of two thicknesses of 0.33 or 0.5. The latter is known to provide sturdiness for greater protection.
What is the thickness of SPC floor?
With a rigid core, the thickness of the vinyl floor will no longer be important. Everything you read on vinyl flooring that says “more = better” will no longer be the case. With SPC flooring, manufacturers create ultra-thin, super-strong flooring. Luxury vinyl tiles with rigid cores are specially manufactured to be ultra-thin and lightweight, usually no more than 6 mm thick.
What are the advantages of SPC flooring?
100% waterproof: Suitable for places with pets and areas susceptible to water and humidity. Whether it’s dirty shoes or spilling liquid on the floor, it’s no longer a problem.
